TOURIST ROUTE
‘BY THE ROADS OF MYKOLAIVSHCHYNA’
Day 1

The best way to start this trip is
to make a base camp in the village of
Berezyna, which is located in the middle
of the circle, made by the following
settlements – Kolodruby, Verbizh,
Demnya, Polyana, Velyki Glibovychy,
Borynychi, Dolishnye, Zhyrova, Khodo­
riv, Zhydachiv, Demyanka Lisna,
Pisochne, and Rozvadiv.
One can get from Lviv to Berezyna by
buses No 234 and No 555.

Let us make a camp on the bank of the
Dniester near the rift – this is a very good
site for beginners to start practicing the

technique of the paddle boat slalom. This
is the last, more or less, significant natural
obstacle on the lower Dniester; the rift is
located 400 m lower of the bridge to the
Zhydachiv, not far from the abandoned
sulphur plant. The best option is to get
water from local residents, who, in turn,
get it from the water pipeline. Really, it is
not by chance that locals are proud with
the quality of their water. Water from the
wells is notably worse.
Among the negative sides of this site,
there is lack of wood as well as the need
to collect garbage, floating in the catch
behind the rift. As a matter of fact, there
is a problem with wood everywhere on
