Calling all science fanatics ! Following the success of last year ’ s event , Cardiff ’ s Science Festival is set to return with a fantastic selection of enlightening events . Workshops , demonstrations and performances and a diverse range of topics from death to gravity will feature over eight engaging days . Guests can discover the curious chemicals involved in love at Rosie Wilby ’ s award-winning lecture , The Science Of Sex ( Wed 17 July , O ’ Neils , tickets : £ 3 ), or grill a panel of engineering industry leaders at Engineer ’ s Question Time ( Thurs 18 July , 6pm , Senedd , admission : free ). Embracing a more family feel , Titchy Tiny Science ( Sat 20 July , Wales
Millennium Centre , admission : free ) transforms the weather into a story via an interactive book . Children will also have the chance to perform the tale of Cardiff Docks in Time & Tides : The Science Of Cardiff Bay ( Sun 21 July , Pierhead Building , admission : free ). Inspiring a celebration of all things science across the city , the Cardiff Science Festival is set to be an enriching eight days of discussion , debate and entertainment for anyone and everyone to enjoy .

Exactly 10 years after Twenty20 cricket revolutionised the sport with the inaugural match between playued between Hampshire and Sussex at the Aegeas Bowl , the face of cricket has been changed forever . The Indian Premier League has taken the counter-punching 20-over form of the game to a whole new level over the last few years , driving its popularity around the world . Once again , SWICA Carnival will be organising the most colourful celebration of Cardiff , by Cardiff , in a creative explosion of sequins , glitter and feathers . Get on down to the Carnival Camp at Channel View Leisure Centre , Grangetown , for three weeks of free carnival arts workshops where you can design and make a costume . Simply let your imagination run riot and then cover it in feathers – flamboyance is to be encouraged ! The Carnival Camp is a welcoming temporary village based on creativity and stocked with amazing materials , and SWICA Carnival ’ s expert makers help ensure that all paraders are transformed in true carnival style . Don ’ t miss the Cardiff Carnival Launch Party at the Carnival Camp on Monday 22nd July and enjoy live carnival drum and dance from the Carnival Crew or bring out your inner samba showgirl by popping on a glamorous head piece at the pop-up carnival stall .
