There was moderate progress towards the DIN target across the combined Great Barrier Reef catchment in 2019 – 2020 with a modelled annual reduction of 2.2 per cent equating to 118 tonnes .
The reduction in the Burdekin Region was 2.8 per cent or about 21 tonnes . This was achieved through improved nutrient and irrigation management .
