by Hijjas Kasturi Associates and the ever
present Mesiniaga IBM Tower by TR Hamzah
& Yeang which won the accolades of the Aga
Khan Award in the late 1990s.
On the residential and commercial front,
there have been many well-known firms like
CSL Associates and GDP Architects Sdn
Bhd, which created significant architectural
identities for themselves. Undoubtedly, there
are many more individuals and firms that have
created architecturally significant works and
are just waiting in the wings to be recognised.
In the good design stake, the role of
the client cannot be disregarded as they
also play an important and prominent
role. A well-crafted building is not the
sole responsibility of the architect but also
requires the understanding and support of the

livable areas.

each unit, affording privacy, rather inwardly contained,
with well-finished externals. Strong design quality of

Client: Landview Tower Sdn Bhd

Jury citation: Relative to the site constraints, the layout
appears conducive to residential amenity within a linked
context, with simple and good design features.

Jury citation: Pleasant solution to housing development,
with simplistic style. Individual houses enjoy substantial
natural lighting through large fenestrations.

Client: Bandar Setia Alam Sdn Bhd
Builder: Eka Bina Construction Sdn Bhd
Jury citation: Environmentally successful in the context of
high-end development. The building facades are stylistically
derivative. Components of the development are put
together successfully to create a complete environment.
