The annual awards is the country’s highest recognition for architectural excellence
honouring architects, clients/owners and builders/contractors.

EVERY YEAR the Pertubuhan Akitek
Malaysia (PAM) or Malaysian Institute of
Architects, a national body which represents
architects in the country, would convene to
give out honours for the best architectural
works in terms of design quality and creative
built environment.
In order for the PAM Awards to become
more prestigious and highly coveted, the
organiser has raised the bar and set even
higher standards. Modelled after the Aga
Khan Award for Architecture, a five juror
system was implemented with members
sourced locally and abroad. The panel is
headed by the convenor while technical
reviewers will answer any questions raised
by the jurors.
Awards has been given out since the 1990s
and the new format was implemented since
2000. The higher criteria for winning the
Awards has translated into a greater variety
of iconic designs lining the Kuala Lumpur
