Jamie Allen – Britbet

Hi, my name is Jamie Allen. I have been working at Marks and Spencer since 2023, alongside volunteering at different sporting events. I have learnt many skills like communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills within fast-paced and regulated environments. I also recently graduated in International Football Business from UCFB Etihad campus, where I developed a strong understanding of governance, operations, marketing and the wider structure of professional sport. Horseracing has always been a massive part of my life, and as I’ ve grown older and got more involved with the sport, I have loved the sport and the community that surrounds it more and more.
What excites me the most about learning the racing industry is understanding what it takes to create the Raceday experience that so many enjoy. In the future, I would love a role at a racecourse where I can make a positive impact on the experience for both the participants and racegoers alike.

Jemima Harper – Horse Welfare Board

Hi my name is Jemima Harper. Over the last three years, I have been studying Equine Science at Oxford Brookes University. During this time, I have developed a board understanding for many areas within the industry, including equine behavioural performance, equine health, nutrition and welfare. Throughout my studies, I have become particularly passionate about equine welfare and the importance of maintaining the highest standards of care, management and wellbeing for horses.
I have always had a strong interest in horses and equestrian sport, and my degree has strengthened my enthusiasm for learning more about the racing industry. What excites me most is the opportunity to contribute to a sport that brings together equine welfare, science, passion, public engagement, as well as the collaboration of many different roles working towards the future of the industry. In the future I would love to play a role in improving welfare standards and promoting a positive change within horseracing.
