Lewis Williams – Star Sports
I ’ m 21 years old and I recently finished studying Journalism and Communications at Cardiff University . Ever since I attended Champions Day at Ascot in 2018 , I ’ ve immersed myself in the consumption of everything racing and I ’ m now looking to use my degree to enter the journalism and media world . I ’ ve been going racing as much as possible in recent years and once I found out about this programme , I thought it would be an amazing experience and would help me turn my passion into a career and learn more about the various stakeholders that exist in the sport and how they complement each other . I find the process of solving a puzzle that ’ s seen in every race fascinating and I ’ m interested in contributing to both the media product and betting product to make it the best it can be for a consumer of the sport .

I am an enthusiastic racing fan , and I went to university hoping that afterwards I could make a career in sports journalism or producing content about sport . I follow horse racing every day and thought if I could make a career in the sport it would be an amazing experience . I applied for the BHA Development Programme because it offered great opportunities to start a career in my preferred sport . I look forward to gaining some racing knowledge and skills I will need for the future . After my placement I hope to get a job in racing that make use of editing or interviewing skills , and give me the opportunity to experience the sport every day . Making race day programmes or something similar would be ideal . For the development of racing I want to appeal to the next generation of fans , whilst staying true to what existing fans love about this amazing sport . careersinracing . com
