Beau Malik – Great British Racing
Growing up with horses sparked my initial love for the equestrian world which was steered into the world of horse racing when my family began small scale thoroughbred breeding in 2020 . Caring for the foals and mares was something I loved but going to university meant I took a backseat . Studying Media , Communications and cultural studies as Newcastle University was a thoroughly enjoyable three years and therefore something I wanted to continue within my career combined with my passion for horses and the sport . With this in mind , applying for the BHA Development Programme was a no brainer . I am excited to continue to make new connections and develop my knowledge of horse racing beyond the physical side as well as developing my skills within media . My hopes are to have a long developing career within the industry and to continue to encourage more young people to get involved in horse racing , by increasing the understanding of the magnitude of the sport beyond race days , through the use of digital platforms .

My work experience at JSC Communications during the build up to the 2022 Epsom Derby and Royal Ascot inspired me to pursue a career in the racing industry .
More recently I have worked with The Jockey Club in their social media team in the lead up to the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket this year , this opportunity reinforced that I want to work in racing , be it in media , marketing or another field .
I applied for the 2023 BHA programme and obtained the QIPCO British Champions Series position and hope this role will enhance the skills I have learnt through my work experience , and during my degree . I am especially looking forward to working with such dynamic people in a dynamic industry . careersinracing . com
