A CU RE Together, we will walk the Route to a Cure... Together we will make a difference... join in the fun! T ROU O ET The 2013 TEAMSWF Route to a Cure Walk in Denver and around the country raised $44,207! WOW! A WONDERFUL OVERALL EFFORT! THANK YOU! Because of you, The Sturge-Weber Foundation continues to meet our mission, to improve the quality of life for people with Sturge-Weber syndrome and associated Port Wine birthmark conditions through collaborative education, advocacy, research and friendly support. It’s time to get started again. How do we raise the bar? • 44 people created FirstGiving pages during the 2013 TEAMSWF Route to a Cure Walk. Please keep the momentum going and join the 2014 TEAMSWF again this year. Check out the links below to find an event in your local area.   • In addition, we would like to challenge more of you to get involved by increasing participation to 90 FirstGiving pages this year. • More people participating, more funds and awareness raised. That simple! We believe that with your help we will raise $125,000 through 2014 TEAMSWF fundraising this year! Whether you participated on the 2013 TEAMSWF or not, you know it is hard to have one place for all of us to get together to walk as one. But we can if we have team leaders in different locations around the country. Be a part of the 2014 TEAMSWF! 1. Find a 5K run, half marathon or full marathon in your area. A great place to start your search is on one of the links below. • www.halfmarathons.net • www.runnersworld.com/racefinder • www.multirace.com • www.thecolorrun.com 2. Contact Bonnie at [email protected] to let her know of your intent to be a team captain and with the race you chose. 3. Name your team and let Bonnie know the name. She will create the team under the Route to a Cure Walk on the SWF FirstGiving page. After that you will be able to The Sturge-Weber Foundation | www.sturge-weber.org | [email protected] 5. 6. 7. 8. create your own personal page and others interested will create their page here too. 4. The SWF office will reach out to members within a 60 mile radius of your race location and let you know of those participating so you can all meet up on race day! Of course if you want to participate but not be a captain, that is fine too! Whether you are a captain or not, pages should be created at http://www.firstgiving.com/SWF/2014-teamswf-routeto-a-cure. Those raising $250 and over will receive a free 2014 TEAMSWF t-shirt and they are also available for purchase. Please check the website for updated information. Questions? Contact Bonnie at [email protected] or 800-627-5482 x 103. When we all come together - we will continue to care and share compassionate outreach and be a champion for those we serve.  PS: The 2014 TEAMSWF Walk is not the only way you can get involved. Other 2013 individually inspired regional events and small fundraisers brought in $130,015. This means $174,222 was raised by people just like you and we cannot be more grateful! To those that had events last year, please continue to carry on! So many of you have done them for years and your efforts are truly appreciated! Looking for ideas? Each issue of Branching Out features members moving us along and so does the website under Get Involved, Volunteer Happenings. 13
