This effort was soon rewarded when the Millennium Boxing Club run by Jamie Kennedy started up in Rotherham and Chad’s bus trips became a thing of the past as he joined up and became a regular. He’s still there today, being put through his paces every day by Jamie along with Mark Brine.

As an amateur he had 35 fights winning 27. His record notably includes winning the Junior ABA title at 17 and the CYP Championship at 18, but after realising that he would not get to represent GB at the Olympics he decided, after acting as sparring partner for several pros including Gary ‘Five Star’ Sykes, that he would turn professional himself and in his own words ‘get paid for doing something I love!’. He was still only 18 years old.

Gaynor himself acknowledges that his career hasn’t moved along as quickly as he would have liked - several injuries have unfortunately hampered his progress (he is 22 years old with 11 fights under his belt), but after signing with promoter and manager Dave Coldwell in October 2011 he feels things are moving along just as he would like them to.
