Injune Horsing Around Golden Bit Campdraft Despite the continuing dry conditions spring is the time for horse sports in the area, kicking off with the Injune Golden Bit campdraft, which was held on September 14 and 15 attracting a competitive field from across the state. Thanks go to cattle donors Owen and Sue Maller, Ashley and Doris McKay, Dan and Lisa Coggan and Glenn and Leanne Wilson who made it possible for the draft to go ahead. Sunday morning’s gymkhana, held by the Injune Pony Club, will ensure there are plenty of campdrafters well into the future. Rodeo & Spring Draft Upcoming horse events include the Meggs Brazier Memorial Rodeo to be held in Injune on October 12 and the Tooloombilla Spring Draft on October 4 and 5. Because their rodeo was cancelled earlier in the year due to drought, Tooloombilla will hold a Bull and Broncs event from 6pm on the Saturday night. Melbourne Cup Luncheon Keeping with the horse theme Injune Churches Together are gearing up for their annual Melbourne Cup luncheon on November 5. Join them for a two course luncheon, fashion parade, racing on the big screen, sweeps, and all the entertainment that comes from a day at the races. under the guidance of Casandra Sorensen and Lee-ette Williams. The Youth Group is currently getting oily. With product donated from local businesses the kids have been giving timbers on the Injune gateway signs and the old cemetery a lick of love. The Youth Group meets every Monday at the old visitor centre in Injune and while they often use the time to chill-out with kids of their own age, they can just as often be found volunteering around town. Later in the year they will be adding Christmas decorations to public spaces and are in need of more tinsel. If you know someone who would like to join the Youth Group or if you have excess Christmas tinsel hiding in the back of your cupboard please contact Lee-ette at the Injune State School or Casandra at Uniting Care October IN Injune 1-21 Nature’s Reward exhibition @ Injune Creek Gallery 5-6 Tooloombilla Spring Draft 12 Meggs Brazier Memorial Injune Rodeo CLAIMING THE DATE 5 Nov Injune Churches Together Melbourne Cup Luncheon 15 Nov Opening of Santos Injune Art Show 24 Nov Antiques and Collectables Roadshow +EVERY Friday Fitness 7-8am and 8:15-9:15am. +EVERY 2nd & 4th Sunday, 5pm Injune Churches Together Kane Duff participates in the Rabobank Novice Draft at the Injune Campdraft (Mandy McKeesick) Youth Group The Injune Youth Group encourages children from ten years of age upwards to participate in volunteer activities and has been operating in the community for over ten years Campdraft & Bulls and Broncs Oiling the timbers at the old Injune Cemetery were Injune Youth Group members L-R: Jordyn, Keira, Haylie, Tahlia and Ella (Lee-ette Williams) An NRA affiliated event 5 th & 6 th OCTOBER 2019 FREE ADMISSION Saturday Night Entertainment (ID required) Canteen and Bar available Free Camping (No power provided) th Saturday September Saturday 5 5th October Bull & Broncs Events Rodeo Nominations Central entries only Campdraft Nominations via Campdraft Central No dogs or glass bottles permitted on the grounds Jess Roberts participates in the Rabobank Novice Draft at the Injune Campdraft (Mandy McKeesick) Brodie Hurley participates in the Rabobank Novice Draft at the Injune Campdraft (Mandy McKeesick) 6 www.tooloombilla.com
