people of Roma & district to the
Roma Butter Factor Open Day on Saturday

future of the Roma Butter Factory Reminisce
and share stories while you have lunch under
the bottle trees. There will be tours &
Information sessions, a historic vehicle
display, mini stationary engines on display and
refreshments available for purchase from a
sausage sizzle and Ivy’s Coffee Van.
Members of the Roma Historical Precincts Inc.
are in the process of restoring the Roma
Butter Factory which ceased operation in
1960 due to the lack of suppliers.
The present building was built after the
original factory, which opened in 1910, burnt
down in 1930.
We are asking people from properties in the
old dairy areas of Wallumbilla, Yuleba, Roma,
Hodgson, Gunnewin, Bymount and Injune for
any old photos or memorabilia of dairies,
trains and vehicles carting the cream cans to
the factory that they might like to share with
us. We are interested in obtaining cream
separators, butter churns (even parts!), old
cream cans in any state, milking machinery, a
small dairy that could be relocated to the
Butter Factory and of course any photos and
stories you have.
