Bushrangers, Coachmen and Swaggies -
get set for the Cobb & Co Festival!
The Cobb & Co Festival is celebrating 95 years since the last Cobb & Co Passenger Coach
service ran from St George to Surat with a huge programme planned for August 17-25, 2019.
Visitors have the chance to travel in a horse drawn carriage, see a bullock wagon in action and
celebrate a piece of Australia’s unique outback history – just watch out for bushrangers!
To celebrate the last run of the Cobb & Co Coach service in Australia along the Cobb & Co Way
you can book a seat on the horse-drawn coach for a section of the historic route, bring a horse
and team up with the trail ride, or join the celebration in event transport. The festival is family
friendly event and retraces the 76 kilometre route of Cobb & Co Mail Service No. 177.
This hug event will also feature coach rides around Yuleba and Surat, a bush dance, markets,
‘Long Table’ dinner, an open air concert with Tania Kernaghan, live theatre, an exhibition by
national award winning artist Kathy Ellem, classic Australian movies showing in Surat’s heritage
listed Shire Hall, and the list goes on…
Don’t miss out on a once-in-five-year chance to revive an important part of Australia’s history right
here in the Maranoa. Come along in period dress and join in the fun!
Tickets are essential for some activities but there are many free festivities planned too. Visit
