Rotarian awarded Paul
Harris Fellow
Jenny Whip was recently honoured with a
Paul Harris Fellow from the local Rotary
District at the District Changeover in
Toowoomba. Jenny received the award for her
assistance with the District Drought Relief
Program which has been a massive help to
the local community.

Roma Historical Motor Club
Briefs
Roma and District Toastmasters held a Fourth
of July American meeting last month. At the
Meeting Roma and District Toastmasters Club
President David Bowden gave an
impersonation of Donald Trump while New
Member Marian Vierveyzer dressed in red,
white and blue and Visitor Anthony King wore
a Weatherford (American company) shirt. For

The Roma Historical Car Club recently visited
“The Bar” at Mt. Hope owned and operated by
Ree Price. Among those attending were Bob
Wilson, Leo Denton and his Grandson Darcy,
Gary and Nasma Dann along with Laurie and
Diane Fitzgerald. There was a good roll up
and many admired the new facilities.

Roma’s Bill Vierveyzer was recently installed
as the Assistant Director of Development for
the Freemason Lodge in District 22 which
includes the Maranoa. This was a proud
moment for Bill and his wife Marian who both
travelled to the Grand Lodge of Queensland in
Brisbane in July for his Installation.
In other news, John Lethbridge from
Normandy, Muckadilla was installed as the
Worshipful Master of Raphael Lodge in Roma
at the July meeting. On what was the 140th
Anniversary of the founding of the Lodge in
1878, John carried on a proud family tradition
of involvement with the Lodge. The picture
below shows John next to a photo in the
background of his great-grandfather, William
Thrupp, who was sworn in as Worshipful
Master 101 years ago, in 1918. The
Installation was conducted by Members of the
Grand Lodge of Queensland.
