Cobb & Co Camp Oven at
Wallabella
The countdown is on to celebrate the
running of the last Cobb & Co Coach in
Australia. The Cobb & Co Festival program
adds an expanded experience thanks to
Origin’s sponsorship.
Festival committee member Paul Masson
said, “We wanted to provide a real heritage
experience for the celebration and
approached Origin to help us make this
vision a reality for the festival’s ‘Camp Oven
Dinner Under the Stars’ event”.
“People will get a truly outback experience
on the evening of Saturday August 24 at the
Wallabella stock route bore campsite, half-
way between Surat and Yuleba on the Cobb
& Co Way,” said Mr Masson.
Not only will travellers be treated to a warm
country feast of camp oven delights, they will
be able to enjoy the evening’s live
entertainment program including Chris
Pritchard, Terry Arnold and The Crack Up
Sisters.
Origin’s community sponsorship and
donations program supports local events in
the areas where they operate. The festival
committee applied as part of the quarterly
funding rounds and got the green light.
Origin’s local General Manager Maceon
Cooper said “We’re very proud to be
supporting this unique event and look
forward to celebrating the

festival”.
The Cobb & Co Festival is a joint venture
between the Yuleba Development Group
and Surat and District Development
Association. The festival is run every 5
years and this year will be run from 17-25,
and celebrates the last ever Cobb & Co
coach run in Australia. This year’s event
marks 95 years since the last run.

Surat Seniors Games
Surat’s Seniors recently duelled it out in the
2019 Seniors Games held at Surat Hospital.
The day was full of fun and active pursuits,
beginning with the lighting of the Seniors
Games Flame and a parade, of course!
