Tip #2: DRINK HALF YOUR BODYWEIGHT IN OUNCES OF WATER EACH DAY

What??? I assure you, you will NOT float away or spend the day in the bathroom. By drinking the appropriate amount of water you will be able to: reduce your calorie intake, lower your risk of weight gain, maintain your balance of body fluids, rev up your metabolism, energize muscles, and keep your skin looking good. Here is how I recommend you plan your water intake:

Determine how many ounces you should drink each day

Divide that number by 3 and aim to drink ⅓ during the morning, afternoon and evening respectively.

Track your water intake by writing it down or using one of the many free apps available to track your nutrition. (See Tip #4)

Stop drinking 2 hours prior to bedtime so your sleep is not interrupted by a bathroom break.

Tip #3: PREPARE A BOX OF GRAB-AND-GO HEALTHY SNACKS

When we are short on time and hungry, we will eat what is available. If you do not have healthy alternatives available, that is when most people will go for snacks filled with tons of sugar, fat, and calories. This can be easily avoided by spending 20-30 minutes each weekend making snack bags that you can grab-and-go without feeling guilty afterwards. Some of my favorite snacks that I bag or purchase each weekend are: sunflower seeds, part-skim mozzarella sticks, unsalted almonds, grapes, edamame, Kashi crackers, strawberries, sliced peppers with hummus, popcorn, hard boiled eggs, Shakeology balls, Greek yogurt and sliced cucumbers. Be sure to pay attention to the potions you pack because even healthy snacks need to be eaten in moderation.
