Tip #4: TRACK YOUR FOOD INTAKE AND ACTIVITY

Tracking how much you eat and drink each day can be an eye-opening experience. Even as a online health and fitness coach, when I do not track my food intake I am more likely to overeat because I honestly lose track of what I have eaten and how much more I should intake that day. I now use my Fitbit app daily to track my exercise, food intake and water consumption each day and I feel it really helps me stay on track. If you have an activity tracker, I encourage you to use the app associated with your tracker to log your food and beverage intake each day as well as all of your activity. You do not need to buy an activity tracker as there are many free options available. Some popular free options are:

1.Grab a notebook that fits in your purse and write down everything you eat and drink along with the calorie counts for each item. You can find the calorie counts on nutritional labels and even on many menus.

2.If you have a smartphone, many have free apps built in that allow you to log your food and beverage intake each day as well as all of your activity.

3.Download one of the numerous free apps available such as MyPlate Calorie Tracker, My Fitness Pal, and SparkPeople and begin logging your intake and exercise.
