Yes, in my time I have had monogamous relationships and I absolutely loved and adored the people that I was in those relationships with, but for the majority of my adult life- I date! I date openly and I date multiple people at the same time. And I think a lot of people who date also date multiple people, but they don't always let it be known that they're dating other people. I like the easiness of honesty. I like knowing there’s nothing hidden from my intentions. And, I’ve had some really great partners that have reciprocated the same energy.
But, there are rules. Although I am a free spirit, the balance still needs structure.
1. there must be honesty! I would love to say that this is common sense but as we all know sense ain't always common. In the TV show "She's Gotta Have It" we saw Nola deal with some problematic situations due to lack of honesty,
2. we must operate from respect! Respect is at the root of all relationship-building. Respect my mind, my body, my time and respect my peace.
3. we are not each other's possessions! We are only able to experience each other, through each other. I am not yours and you are not mine, respectfully.
