My name is Yvonne Dobbs and I’m proud to be a Celebrant! You may well ask, so what’s a Celebrant? Good question! In the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, Celebrants have been helping couples to have their marriage ceremonies at virtually any place, any time and include anything that makes you and your guests feel fantastic on the day!

I first found out about Celebrants when I attended a wedding in Australia back in 2006. I was blown away by the location –we held the ceremony outdoors in a vineyard overlooking the ocean, with the sound of the waves and the sun about to set; it felt magical and special. The fact that the couple could create a really personal occasion, with their own vows and readings, and no time constraints! I loved the idea of giving couples true flexibility and personal service and entered the profession in 2011 myself, after training with the UK College of Celebrancy. A wedding should be a ceremony which can include the couple as well as their guests, and allow everyone to really become involved and a part of what is one of the most memorable days in our lives.

My work as a Celebrant allows me to provide a truly personal service to couples and their families.  I have spent a lifetime working with people and being a Celebrant provides me with the opportunity to create something wonderful using my love of words, meanings and creativity.

Celebrants will give couples the freedom to be creative, fill their day or occasion with their unique style and ideas – we have often been asked to conduct ceremonies that are themed using fantasy, theatre, stories and fables. Favourites are Dr. Who, Harry Potter, Disney and Las Vegas themed weddings! There is literally no limit to the ideas, costumes and the places used for the ceremony, and being a Celebrant means I can help couples to bring their imagination and creativity to life!
