They don’t have to be so theme driven, some couples just want additional internal symbolic ceremonies, such as a Hand Fasting, where cords are tied around the couple’s wrists, or a Sand Ceremony where different colours of sand are placed into one glass vessel and the layers symbolize the family members, and that the layers cannot now be separated. We can advise couples on many more different ways to mark the occasion and also help with individual vows and promises, and we have many suggestions for readings and poems.

I usually start by talking to couples and asking them about their plans, giving them guidance and support and advise in terms of the legal registration of their marriage, and also ideas about where they might like to hold their ceremony. Most public places and outdoor areas can be secured either free or for a small fee and many unlicenced venues are often charming and happy to host a ceremony followed by a Wedding Breakfast. When creating the ceremony I always start with a blank sheet and answers they have given me.

I like to meet all my couples either personally or via Skype, so that we can really communicate and I can create the best possible Ceremony that will create those lasting memories.

On the day of the Ceremony I like to arrive early, meet the bridal party, sometimes even calming a nervous groom, and checking who is in charge of the rings! It has been a privilege to have worked with so many couples since I began in 2011, and I look forward to meeting more couples and creating more unique and wonderful stories and ceremonies in the future.
