You do more than just produce, you also own and run
the music blog Str8OutDaDen, when did this idea
come about?
Ironically Str8OutDaDen.com was a site that housed my
production initially. Around summer of 2012, I became
bored with producing and felt that I had ran my course
of “chasing placements”. It was a rat race of hurry up
and wait. I was producing these great records that didn’t
sound like me at all. Only because I was trying to get a
check that never came. I had some minimal success, but
definitely nothing life changing. Mostly all of my placements were on mixtapes that didn’t really pan out. The
most proudest moment during that time was a record
with Rock City though called “Feels Like Floatin”. You
should look it up and take a listen.
Oh, but back to how the site came about. I was having
these great conversations with artists during sessions
and I thought that I should start recording and make
them into podcast. So initially the site was just going to
be a place to house my podcast.
However, being tired of the placement game, I figured
out a way to bring people to me instead of chasing
and BOOM!, Str8OutDaDen.com was born in November,
2012. I wanted it to be the Voice 4 Underground HipHop. I made the site for people who may have been dealing with the same issues as me. Waiting to be heard. I
chose to listen.
