Along with producing and
running Str8OutDaDen, you co-host
‘The Good Hennec Show’ with Jimmy
Hennec. How did this connect
happen?
from Live Hip Hop Daily happen to came across my podcast from there and
started listening to what I was doing. He was moving down to Atlanta and
wanted me to help launch the network here with a show. I was terrified. Never
even considered being in front of a camera. Everything I had done was
behind the scenes. So when he asked, something said take a shot and the
rest is history.
I like to think this is all about being
prepared when an opportunity comes
up. So I purchased a media pass with
A3C a couple of years ago. They had
something going where you could put
your logo on their site with a link back
to your site. The homie Herb Imperial
As far as the homie Jimmy Hennec, I knew that I didn’t want to carry another
show by myself so I reached out to someone who I knew would be great.
He had personality and we have some of the best conversations in regular
life about everything. He was new to this world too so I wanted us to grow
together.
You’ve hosted and put on plenty of shows all through-out Atlanta, Do
you have your eye on a venue that you haven’t been able to book yet?
Yeah I do actually. I can’t really go into too much detail right now but I will say
this TrapGood.com.
When it comes to holding events, what is some advice you have for
those who want to do the same?
The best advice I can give anyone wanting to hold events is to know what
you are getting into. It’s never just booking the venue and artists. That’s
the big lie being told. You really have to know how to manage people
and relationships. Remember that absolutely nothing will go the way you
planned it to. The crazy part is the people at your event will never know and
it’s your job for them not to know. They are there to have fun so you have
to create that atmosphere. Remember that you dictate what the crowd will
be. So pick the venue, artist and theme accordingly.
What quote/phrase do you live by?
Matthew 23:12 - For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those
who humble themselves will be exalted.
This verse keeps me grounded. I never try to out do the next man. That’s
not my purpose. I’m here to create and inspire. If I do that correctly, my
legacy will speak for itself.
“you dictate what the crowd will be.”
