GET TO KNOW
YOUR TEACHERS:
DR. QUI NT
By Monica A.
Dr. Mary Ellen Quint has been a
teacher at AOA for quite a long time?she has
been teaching for over 50 years. Most
students at AOA have the pleasure of having
her as their teacher before graduating, as
she teaches junior and senior English,
American Literature, British Literature, and
Essentials of Communication. She also
works as a teacher to LIFEPAC high school
students. Below is an interview with her that
will help you get to know her better.
2) What would students be
surprised to find out about you?
I love to play the piano. I don?t have a
television set, and my college degree is in
medieval studies.
3) What is your dream vacation?
I have never been to Europe. In line with my
interest and degree in medieval studies, I
would love to visit England and France to see
all the castles, monasteries, churches, and
other places that I have studied and read
about.
4) What can you cook to perfection?
1) What?s the most interesting thing
you have read or seen this week?
I have spent most of the week reading
research papers, but the most interesting
thing I have seen this week was my
granddaughter?s varsity soccer game. She
had five seconds to make a penalty kick with
the announcer shouting in the background,
?five? four? three? two? one!? She missed
the kick by inches, and I just hadn?t seen
anything like that at a soccer game before.

I love to cook, but now that my kids are out of
the house I don?t cook very often. I make
very good soups from scratch, and I make
them fresh and organic.
5) If you won the lottery and decided
to give up teaching, what would you do
instead?
I am very much into studying herbal medicine
and essential oils and that kind of thing. I
have been teaching for over 50 years now,
but if I decided to give up teaching and won
the lottery, I think I would take the time to
actually get certified and probably do
something in that area.
