UPCOMING MEET AN UP AND COMING RAPPER& S E L F -T A U G H T PRODUCER LWAZI GP By Gundo Victory 1.WHEN YOU DID START RAPPING? I started rapping in 2007. 2.WHY HIP-HOP? I grew up in an Era where the most famous genre in South Africa was Kwaito. Hip hop was later introduced. I then fell in love with Hip hop because it is one of the genres that enable you to tell a story comprehensively from start to finish and with Kwaito it was difficult as Kwaito didn't require too much lyric and was more of a feel good type of music. 3.WERE FAMILY SUPPORTIVE WHEN YOU WERE STARTING OUT YOUR MUSIC CAREER? Yes, my family has always been supportive of my music career . My Grandmother used to pay for all my recording sessions and the beats I purchased and they loved my songs as they were meaningful. 4.WHAT INFLUENCED YOU? I was influenced by Bonginkosi Dlamini also known as Zola 7. I still don't know what Type of genre he considered his music to be even though some were saying He is a Kwaito Artist but to me his music sounded more like Hip hop as he had more detail and lyric in his verses. Lwazi Fatyela also known as Lwazi GB. Is a young energetic rapper, producer (Beat maker) and a self-taught music Engineer. He built up a massive strong fan with his provoking 'Mandisa ka Nyovest'.He is also a student at Fort hare university in East London Campus, doing 2nd year in Bachelor of commerce Accounting. He grew up in Alice, Stayed in Cape Town for a couple of years before he move to Queenstown in 2005. I had very nice flows and I was way too creative on my song writing. I had sick punch lines in my verses and the listeners found some of my punchlines funny and amusing. I've worked so hard towards winning that competition, sacrificed everything, sacrificed my varsity time for studio sessions, pity I got robbed and didn't get what was promised to me. I was supposed to record a song in Acoustic Media, the company that did AKA's latest album. 7.LISTEN TO YOUR EMOTIONAL SONG 'EVERYDAY', YOU SPOKE ABOUT GIVING UP ON BCOM ACCOUNTING, WAS THE COURSE NOT SOMETHING YOU WERE PASSIONATE ABOUT? I've Always Been Passionate About school even thou at some point I felt like the degree I'm doing was too demanding and was somehow holding me back from being successful as an artist. All I ever wanted in life was to give back to my family and I feel like I'm running out of time as I am saying on the song. While I'm at University studying at the library, I should be out there making money and I am losing my loved ones one by one without even having the opportunity to thank them properly with my success, and with education, being successful takes a few years whereas with hip hop it can take few months if you have the right music, marketing and a game plan. All I want is to give back to my family and loved ones while they still here on this earth. I do not limit myself, I'm a versatile artist and I can do any type of sound. Moreover, My Music is listener friendly as I like to keep my messaging clear and coherent. 8.HOW DID YOU GET INTO MUSIC PRODUCTION? I got tired of asking for money from my grandmother, that's when I decided that I wanted to be a music producer and do my own thing and also, I've always wanted something more and at some point I felt like I was not getting exactly what I want from other producers so I wanted to design my own sound the way I wanted it to be. 6.YOU WON 5FM RAP FACTOR WHICH IS HOSTED BY MS COSMO, WHAT MADE YOU STAND OUT MORE FROM OTHER COMPETITORS? 9.WHO INSPIRED YOU? I was inspired by a friend and a teammate, Putuma Konqana also known as FLASH. 10.SA and international producer you look up too? 5.WHAT MAKES YOU UNIQUE FROM OTHER ARTISTS? -In SA, no one because, I haven't heard any producer with a unique sound even though there are many dope producers. Internationally I look up to Kanye West. I love his beats, they are unique. 11.YOU GOT HUGE FOLLOWING FAM MORE THAN WELL-KNOWN ARTIST IN THE INDUSTRY, HOW DID YOU MANAGE TO HAVE SUCH A HUGE FAN BASE? I have that CassperNyovest kinda passion when it comes to my music. I work overtime and at any point in time I never consider myself as famous enough, I always want more. Besides my passion, I would also say it's the type of music that I make and I always tell people to like my page in every show I perform in. Moreover, the competitions, Airplay and Facebook ads have contributed also to the growth of the page. 12.YOUR VIDEO MANDISA KA NYOVEST IS SUCH A FUNNY VIDEO YET ON POINT AND IT GOT MAD VIEWS, HOW DID YOU MARKET IT? I marketed it through Facebook ads only because I knew that the video would then market itself as it was a crazy stunt, Lol. 13.WHEN CAN WE EXPECT YOUR ALBUM? You can expect it earlier next year. I was going to drop it this year but I want to build my brand first and I want it to be perfect. 14.WHO ARE SOME OF THE ARTISTS YOU WOULD LIKE TO WORK WITH ON YOUR UPCOMING PROJECTS?
