a steady voice for Blacktown

approach and willingness to do whatever was needed, no matter how small the task.
Councillor Julie Griffiths echoed this sentiment, describing Chris as someone who gave his“ heart and soul” to the Labor Party.“ He was a Labor man,” she said a simple but powerful testament to his loyalty and dedication.
Chris’ s commitment to his community extended far beyond council meetings and official duties. He was known for his accessibility and his willingness to listen, always taking the time to engage with residents and understand their concerns. In a rapidly growing area like Blacktown, this connection to the community was invaluable.
Federal Member for Greenway Michelle Rowland also paid tribute, acknowledging Chris as a strong and consistent advocate for infrastructure and local services in one of the fastest-growing regions in the country. His voice, she noted, was one that always pushed for better outcomes for the community.
While Chris’ s achievements in public life are many, those who knew him best will remember him for his humility, his work ethic and his genuine care for others. He was not driven by recognition, but by a desire to make a difference and in that, he succeeded.
Beyond his public roles, Chris was a devoted father and is survived by his adult son. His family, along with his colleagues and the wider community, will feel his loss deeply.
Chris Quilkey’ s legacy is one of service not just in title, but in action. He understood that strong communities are built through consistent effort, practical solutions and a genuine commitment to people. His work has left a lasting mark on Blacktown, and his absence will be keenly felt.
As the community reflects on his life and contribution, there is a sense of gratitude for all that he gave. Chris may no longer be with us, but the impact of his work and the example he set will continue to shape the district he cared so deeply about.
Vale Chris Quilkey- a steady hand, a committed advocate, and a true servant of the Blacktown community.
