On September 4 , 2024 , 4 quintals of premium organic dragon fruit were exported from Patnagarh , Balangir district to Dubai via Bhubaneswar International Airport . This fruit , known for its vibrant red flesh and superior quality , is valued at
Rs 250-260 per kilogram internationally , compared to Rs 120- 160 locally .
Deputy Chief Minister K . V . Singh Deo expressed optimism about the health benefits of the fruit and anticipated expansion into Southeast Asian markets . Palladium ’ s Associate Director , Biswajit Behera , highlighted the success of Odisha ' s dragon fruit in gaining international recognition and emphasized the potential for future exports of spices , floriculture , and millets .
