Union Cabinet approves ₹ 14,235 crore for seven schemes to boost farmers ' livelihoods
The Union Cabinet , led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi , has approved seven schemes with a total of Rs 14,235.30 crore to enhance farmers ' livelihoods and advance agriculture . Key among these is the Digital Agriculture Mission , with Rs 2,817 crore allocated . This mission integrates technology through the Agri Stack and Krishi Decision Support System , using AI and big data to improve farming practices .
Another major initiative , with Rs 3,979 crore , focuses on crop science to boost climate resilience and food security . It includes research on plant genetics , crop improvement , and ecosystem management . Rs 2,291 crore will strengthen agricultural education and research , incorporating modern technologies like remote sensing and AI .
A scheme with Rs 1,702 crore aims to enhance livestock and dairy production , addressing animal health and technology development .
Horticulture will receive Rs 1,129.30 crore for sustainable development across various crops . Additionally , Rs 1,202 crore will be used to improve Krishi Vigyan Kendras , vital for farmer education and innovation . Lastly , Rs 1,115 crore will support natural resource management to ensure sustainable agricultural productivity .
