Gene therapy involves introducing functional genes into cells to correct genetic disorders . It has shown great promise in treating rare genetic diseases .

How a Gene Therapy works ?

Gene therapy is a treatment approach that aims to modify , replace , or supplement a patient ' s faulty or missing genetic material . It involves introducing therapeutic genes into the patient ' s cells to correct or compensate for genetic mutations or abnormalities . Among the types of gene therapies , there is Gene Replacement Therapy where healthy copies of a gene are introduced into cells to replace the defective or mutated gene responsible for a particular disorder . Then there is Gene Addition Therapy where in certain cases , new genes are added to the patient ' s cells to provide therapeutic benefits .
