THE STORY OF THANKSGIVING
By Ainara Carrera
In 1620 a group of English people arrived into the New World in a boat called Mayflower. They were called Pilgrims and they left England because they were prosecuted for their religious beliefs.
They landed in a place that they called Plymouth and they found a rock that is known as Plymouth Rock. They created a settlement and when winter came, most of them died because there wasn't enough food.
The Pilgrims met a tribe of native indians that offered them help to survive. An indian named Squanto taught them how to grow plants using dead fish as fertilizer.
Finally, by the end of the season they had a good harvest so they thanked God for it, and they all, Pilgrims and Indians, celebrated with a big meal.
