I said my parents supports me to live
my dreams. Then what she said
turned all my happiness and
excitement into sadness. She told me
that she was married for 32 years and
"Rann of Kutch" festival is just 3 kms
away from their village but she never
went to see the festival. When I asked
her why? She said she is not allowed
to come of their home. I wanted to
take a picture of her but she denied. I
was surprised and thought about her
life and went to sleep.
In the morning after freshening up
she offered me 'poha' to eat. I needed
to move to Kala dungar and then
Bhuj. I started my bike and the village
man took me to their relative's place.
Five-Six ladies came out to see me
and all were in ghoonghat covering
their faces. They were touching my
jacket and were asking me lot of
questions.
They also asked me the same
question that being a lady how I am
allowed to ride a bike and travel alone
and am I not afraid of society?
I explained to them about me and my
dreams. Again I asked them that I
wanted to click a picture of them in
their traditional attire that they were
wearing. Upon hearing that, they ran
and hid in home like I asked them
their life. When I asked what
happened, they replied that their
brothers would kill them if they click
their pictures and they are not
allowed to go out of their homes, they
never went to school and no one can
click their pictures. They are restricted
to see other men. I didn't argue or
present my opinion but I just sat and
shared some of my travel stories and
showed them some of my riding
pictures and places where I have
travelled. They told me that they also
have dreams too but they are not
gifted like me.
