• PPE required when handling horses in challenging circumstances or environment
• Fire Risk Management, First Aid at Work and Concussions awareness
• How to respond and take charge of a situation, in the event of an accident or fire
Welfare
• Legislative, industry requirements and best practice in welfare standards
• Best practice in biosecurity
• Horse Welfare Board and industry priorities relating to welfare
• Understand that every horse must always be in the most positive welfare situation
• How their actions, in handling and riding horses, can negatively impact on the horse, be damaging to public opinion and affect the industry’ s Social Licence to Operate
• Stereotypical behaviour
• Underlying factors that can result in compromised health and performance of the horse at exercise
