Tack & Equipment
• Safely mount and dismount a range of Thoroughbreds safely with assistance or unaided
• Ride a variety of horses with an independent secure seat, balanced position and feel in all paces
• Adapt riding style and approach to meet demands of activity and individual needs of horses
• Demonstrate unobtrusive but effective aids to improve performance
• Effectively time positive( rewards) and negative( pressure and release) reinforcement in training
• Ride intelligently and with due regard and support for others riding young, inexperienced horses or those presenting behavioural challenges
• Follow instructions but adapt, where required, taking the right decision to maintain safety
• Fit a wide range of specialist tack equipment such as headgear including bits, breast girth, martingales, boots, nosebands, blinkers, visor, hood, ear plugs
• Be competent to ride on a variety of surfaces and going
• Adapt style and approach according to environmental conditions
• Ride with appropriate level of stirrup and contact to improve horses and establish consistent way of going
• Ride variations of speed in paces, as instructed including swinging canter, ½ speed, ¾ speed
• Ride horses safely at speed, including upsides, to maximise training and performance
• Begin to accurately assess, describe and communicate fitness levels, performance, physical and behavioural traits
• Begin to support and guide other riders to maximise training and performance
• Suggest adaptations that could be made to tack and equipment for a horse
