I ’ m a 22-year-old from London who is currently living in Nottingham . Last summer I graduated from Loughborough University with a degree in International Relations . My passion for horse racing arose just two years ago when I watched the Cheltenham Festival . My flatmates and I would gather in our living room to watch every race and discuss which horse we were going to place our free bets on ; I was captivated by the likes of Paisley Park and Sire Du Berlais .
Since October 2020 I have been working at BT as an emergency call operator . The job can be stressful however I aim to use my communication skills wherever possible in order to calm down callers .
At the ROA , I ’ m looking forward to improving my understanding of racing politics and undertaking a multitude of tasks . My long term goal for racing is to eradicate the stigma that surrounds the sport , as well making it more accessible to those aged between 18 and 25 .

My name is Erin Campbell and I am 24 years old , from Co . Tyrone , Northern Ireland . I have just finished my final year of studying a BSc ( Hons ) Equine Science degree for the last three years . I have thoroughly enjoyed the degree as it has developed my scientific knowledge and practical application of the complexities of horses , further enhancing my passion for racehorses in particular .
My passion has always been in horse racing with a family background in point-to-points and pony racing leading to full-time work as a groom / work rider for five years in England which ignited my curiosity to undertake the equine science degree . I am extremely excited to be part of this year ’ s programme and really looking forward to a new learning curve within the industry . I am specifically passionate about the breeding aspect of the thoroughbred industry . I believe the horse racing industry has a bright future and the addition of modern , ever-changing ideas from young people could help increase the development of the industry . careersinracing . com
