Maja Dlugosz - Ascot Racecourse
I ’ m 22 years old and have just finished my final year at the University of Warwick , studying International Management . After graduation , I wanted to find a role that would enhance the skills learned through my studies and previous work experience in the hospitality industry . The Development Programme , particularly the Ascot Racecourse position , offers a perfect blend of my experiences in luxury hospitality and events management with my lifelong passion for horses . As I am originally from Krakow , Poland , I ’ m very excited at the opportunity to immerse myself in the British racing industry thanks to this programme and explore possible career paths . I want to develop essential skills for this industry by building on my communication , strategy and marketing background and apply those skills to help continue the industry ’ s heritage . I would also love to get involved with the racing community and explore ways to attract and engage a younger and more diverse audience .

Having dreamed of pursuing a career with horses from an early age , I chose to study equine science at university , which ignited my passion for equine welfare and ethics . I applied for the British Horseracing Development Programme 2024 because I believe it offers a fantastic opportunity to meet like-minded individuals and see firsthand the efforts being made to support racehorses ’ lives after the track , as well as maintaining the integrity of racing as a whole .
I ’ m eager to learn from industry-leading professionals to diversify my skill set and explore the various roles and opportunities within this exciting field . My ambition is to collaborate with stakeholders in the racing industry to advance welfare initiatives , ensuring the sport ’ s future and attracting a new generation of racing enthusiasts . I look forward to carving my path in this incredible industry and helping to shape the future of racing with a focus on equine welfare and life after racing .
