We as educators know that parent involvement is crucial to a child’s education. Would you like to show parents of your students a sneak peek into their child’s school day? The Seesaw app lets you do just that. Seesaw is an app where students create their own digital portfolio of things they do throughout the school day. Students post items and connected parents can view, “like”, and comment on their child’s work. This is an app that my students love and their parents cherish. Students love it because they can post work that they are proud of and parents love it because they get a glimpse into their child’s school day that they otherwise would not get without this app. As a 3rd grade teacher, I have found numerous uses for this app in my classroom and simply could not teach without it anymore.
Seesaw is a very simple app that anyone could figure out how to use. After teachers create an account for their class, they send out the parent letter which has a QR code on it. Parents download the app and follow the simple directions to connect to their child’s digital portfolio. After connecting, parents can only see the work that their child posts or posts that their child is tagged in. Parents can “like” their child’s post and they can even comment on it. My students get so excited when they check their Seesaw posts and see that their parent has commented on their work. Teachers can also set it up so that students can comment on each other’s work as well. This is a great way to get students collaborating digitally.
Students can choose what kind of work they want to post. There are many other unique features. Click to learn more!
