tory continues to create excellent products with dedication to indubitable quality and unsurpassed taste! The well-known family business “Balantinos”, hon-
oring tradition, managed to turn its name into a well-known domestic brand and today it is synonymous to dairy tradition, innovation, excellent quality and
deliciousness. Based in the village of Theriso, the family began to specialize in dairy tradition by building a small cheese factory in 1928 whose heart and soul
was Stelios Balantinos, while in 1951 Vasilis Balantinos was the one who opened the first store in Chania. This was the beginning of the reputation acquired
by the award-winning traditional Cretan Graviera (PDO product). In that first store there was also a small creamery that produced daily sheep’s yoghurt and
cheeses.In today’s homonymous store, at the central in the central Skalidis street, the tradition of family continues to be present with a small exhibition of old
tools, but above all with the product itself. The traditional Graviera Balantinos, Kefalotyri, Fresh and Dry Anthotyro, Sheep’s Yoghurt, Mizithra, Staka, Cheese
Malaqa and Chania Pichtogalo (PDO), are made from pure fresh milk, and are available in supermarkets and selected grocery stores across Greece. Gradual
and upward is also the development of the cheese dairy. Nowadays, the state-of-the-art factory in Varypetro Nea Kidonia, in the hands of Spyros Balantinos,
aims to increase its productive power, still responding perfectly to rising demand as it has won one of the top positions in consumer preferences both within
and outside Crete. The plant, following European production standards, is one of the few plants nationally that have an environmental management system
in line with the international ISO 14001 standard, thus contributing to the protection of the environment. Open hours: Mon.-Sat. 08:00-21:00.
