Specialty Spotlight | Neurosurgery

Jeffrey Cattorini, M. D. Neurosurgeon Forest Park Medical Center Frisco
As the Chairman of the Board of Managers and Chairman of the Governing Board, and as a Neurosurgeon, I am thrilled that neurosurgery is an integral part of Forest Park Frisco. There are a dozen busy neurosurgeons on staff at the medical facility. With state of the art technology for brain and spine care in the Operating Room, the neurosurgical staff is able to provide patients with the most up-to-date care. Forest Park Frisco has Brain Lab for Brain care and the O-Arm for Spine care.
Brain Lab, with the latest software updates for Vector Vision, is used as a GPS guidance for the brain. Vector vision is invaluable where tumors can be localized precisely and the direct path for resection planned. This allows for more complete tumor resection, sparing normal brain structures, with shorter hospital stays and smaller hospital costs.
For Spine Care, there is the O-Arm, a state of the art 3D imaging for the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. The technology allows a 3 dimensional reconstruction of the spine based on an intra operative x-ray scans. Using this technique, neurosurgeons are able to place spinal instrumentation with greater accuracy. This technology allows the neurosurgeon to avoid critical neural structures with reduced radiation exposure, allowing smaller incisions, thereby reducing operative complications resulting in shorter hospital stays.
This cutting edge technology is what makes Forest Park Frisco a place for exceptional care for Neurosurgery.
