With more than seven years of experience in interventional pain management and sports medicine , Dr . Chad Stephens serves as founder and president of North Texas Spine and Sport . It is best defined as a medical specialty that serves all individuals with musculoskeletal problems seeking to be more active than their medical condition allows . North Texas Spine and Sport provides a wide range of services including medical evaluations , interventional procedures , rehabilitation , and athletic performance and training . Conditions treated at North Texas Spine and Sport may be due to injury , disease , or to the normal process of aging that adversely affects an individual ’ s ability to participate in an active lifestyle . During his career , Dr . Stephens had a special interest in spinal manipulation and pain management procedures as they relate to sports medicine . He assisted in managing the SportONE Athletic Training division in that region . Since coming to Decatur , he serves as the medical director of Fit-N-Wis physical therapy and assists local trainers in rehabilitating the athletes of Wise County . He is pain board certified ( ABPMR ), holds a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine , and is a diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine .
During his fellowship training and work experience , he treated athletes in all sports , ranging from high school to professional athletes .
Dr . Philip Swanson is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery . He performs advanced laparoscopic surgery including weight loss procedures . Dr . Swanson became interested in weight loss surgery when it was shown that major diseases such as diabetes and hypertension could be cured by weight loss surgery .

Dr . Swanson is Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is involved with the Texas Medical Association , the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons . Dr . Swanson is currently the Chief of Surgery at Las Colinas Medical Center in Irving and was previously the Chief of Surgery at Baylor Medical Center in Irving , Coppell Surgical Hospital and St . Elizabeth ’ s Hospital in California . Dr . Swanson attended Bethel College in St . Paul where he graduated with the highest honors with a major in chemistry . He received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota , Minneapolis . Next , he completed his General Surgery residency at Texas Tech University School of Medicine and served as Chief Surgical resident in 1985 .
