What is the difference between a sprain and fracture?
A fracture is actually a broken bone whereas a sprain
is an actual tear of the ligament that attaches or stabilizes two
bones. So, a sprain is more soft tissue
related whereas a fracture is related to
the bone. A sprain itself can be different
grades, you can partially tear a ligament
or you can completely tear a ligament.
A sprain essentially is a tearing of the
ligament that supports our joints.

How can someone prevent kidney stones?
Really there are two simple
things to help prevent a kidney
stone. First, you want to keep
yourself well hydrated. A lot of people
ask me how much water is enough to
drink in a day and you know, there’s no
set number but you should really look at
the color of your urine as the best way
to follow that. Your urine should have
little to no color throughout the day.
The second thing is watching your salt
intake. Living in America, it’s very hard
to find a low salt diet. I tell my patients
if it comes in a bag, box or a can it probably has too much salt in it.

What age should I have a
colonoscopy?
Average risk individuals, men
and women, should begin
screening examination for colon cancer at the age of 50. Now, people
with family history and other risk factors should begin screening about ten
years before the index case in the family
or at the age of 40, whichever is earlier.
A good example is if a first degree family
member is diagnosed with colon cancer
at the age of 53, then you would begin
screening at the age of 43. However, age
40 is earlier, so you may want to begin
screening then. My advice is to talk with
your doctor for the best option for you.
