In October at the B & B Roadshow in Llandudno, the AA’ s best B & B in Wales told the audience at the conference sessions how they had made their business so successful. They will be expanding on this in a future issue of B & B News.

Airbnb back down on the London‘ 90 day’ rule

Airbnb has done a U-turn and agreed to restrict the number of nights that hosts can rent out their homes in London and Amsterdam- bowing to pressure from regulators and others( including the B & B Association).
The decision marks the first time it has agreed to enforce annual rental limits. Previously, Airbnb had argued that it could not be responsible for policing property listings in 34,000 cities with vastly different regulations.
Starting next year, the online service will automatically prevent hosts in London from letting their homes for more than 90 nights a year, unless they have the required“ changeof use” planning permission from their local authority. Until now, Airbnb has not enforced the limit, relying on its London hosts to abide by the rules.
Similarly, in Amsterdam, Airbnb will enforce the city’ s 60-night limit on short-term rentals and will also start collecting any neighbours’ complaints about nearby Airbnb units.
In London, one of the most expensive cities in the world, the rapid rise in Airbnb’ s popularity has led to concerns that homes were being diverted from the residential market and instead marketed as short-term lets for tourists.
