Say Hello to the Bung Karno Stadium!
Shenaz Nanwani, Year 6
The Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 went on a field trip to Gelora Bung
Karno in Senayan.
Since the IPC topic is the World cup, they went to see a
stadium. This stadium, a gigantic field surrounded by
benches, can seat 88,000 people. Around the soccer field
was a 400-metre running track. This was used for athletes to
race.
For fun, all the students ran around the track. They were all
very exhausted and badly needed some water! Then, they all
went to the athlete’s dressing room. They didn’t get to see the
interior, but there was a doctor’s room, and there was also a
testing room.
The testing room is for athletes to have check ups. Often,
athletes take drugs, which are known as steroids, that help
them play better. They have this room to check if they have
taken any illegal drugs before playing the match. The doctor’s
room is used for when any athlete is injured or sick.
Before students’ saw all these amazing things, they watched
a movie on the history of the stadium. It stated how it was
built, the process and many more.
When asked about the experience, Asheeqa, Year 6
answered: “The field trip made me learn a different side of
Indonesia and their determination to change.”
Saheen Jhamtani from year five said, “ It was nice to be in a
place that was very historical. I felt like I was a part of
history.”
Students looked like they were enjoying very much! It was a
very fun experience!
