Middle School
Dance, the Sporty Way
Gabrielle M. Hadipraja, Year 7
The Year 7s and the Year 8s have been preparing
their dance routine based on the World Cup. It
was quite a challenge for the classes.
First their teacher, Ms Antie Istantiah, separated
students into two different teams.
A Year 7 student, Carissa, commented, “When I
first heard about this idea, I thought that this
activity would be fun. It is because the idea of
mixing sports and dance is quite a unique idea.”
It took a while to come up with a routine.
“Finding out on what to do in the dance was fun.
The activity involves lots of creativity too,”
reported Pranish Daryanani, another Year 7
student.
It took two days for them to finish the whole
routine. When they performed the following week,
they came forward with great presentations.

World Cup – Controversial, Yet Beneficial
Selected Year 8 students research the varying
controversies in the history of World Cup and the
positive effects FIFA has had in many countries
around the world.
Ethan and Connor shared their knowledge on
strange yet exciting events in World Cup history,
such as the fastest goal by Hakan Sukur and the
famous ‘Hand of God’ by Diego Maradona.
Esperanza and Sophie delved deeper into how
the World Cup has created peace and harmony
within rival countries, however short-lived. An
example they gave was WWI’s shocking events,
stopping war for a few hours, and another was the
friendship built by Japan and South Korea when
they co-hosted the World Cup in 2002.
The rest of the Year 8s prepared quizzes and
games for the school to enjoy.
