Career Development:
Member Highlights
BCA invests in the future of both emerging and established professionals
within the culinary and hospitality industry by providing personal coaching.
With increased support, the next generation of professionals will now
be able to grow their confidence, enhance their skills and deepen their
network.
“This continues to be an enriching experience. When I was just a
student, I asked Alex [Askew]“Can you be my mentor? And now
here you have it. I have been given exposure to a broader market,
expanded my horizons and built my personal network. I have had
the opportunity to speak at BCA’s gala and recently, I learned new
culinary techniques directly from professionals.”
Coralene Franklin
“I believe the BCA is important to the Culinary and Hospitality
industry because of its intense focus on diversity. A diverse industry
is advantageous to us all as it comes with a cornucopia of ideas,
techniques and social characteristics that can all enrich our lives.
Without this, we will continue to live in a sterile state lacking new
and different vantage points from around the globe.”
Duane Maxwell
Executive Chef for Morrison Healthcare Management
“The BCA has been such an instrumental part of my life. When I
was first introduced to the organization in 2004, I thought that it
was just another organization associated with an industry. After
attending my first gala in 2005, I found out that it was so much
more. The BCA was about connecting the diverse culinary body
on ALL levels. They were about peer mentoring and coaching so
that everyone succeeded. The BCA pushed the envelope regarding
issues ALL OF US were encountering at our respective places
of employment, and helped us all persevere. With the BCA’s
guidance, I have gained not only direction in my culinary career, but
also the passion the help others that are, and were, just like me.”
