Several bank firms offer bank accounts for international students in Birmingham such as listed below:

- Natwest Student Account

- HSBC Basic Account

- Barclays Student Additions

- Santander Basic Account

- Llyods Classic Account

You will need to provide your selected bank firm a letter from the university stating your request to open a bank account, proof of UK address, passport, university offer letter.

sim card companies

Several sim card companies offer good deals (it depends whether you want to go for contract - think of the length of the contract - or top-up) such as listed below:

- Three

(student rate is offered with approximate GBP16/mth for 30GB as of 2018. However, there are other deals that you should consider which can be a lot cheaper. For instance, if you are staying at a student accommodation with unlimited data of wifi, go for GBP9/mth for 4GB.)

- O2

- GiffGaff

(they do not offer contracts so you can skip the cons of having one! as of 2018, it is GBP20/mth & have unlimited/free calls between giffgaff users.)

- EE

(generally expensive & complicated)

- Vodaphone

(it is badly reviewed amongst the local people in the United Kingdom - expensive & poor customer service)
