When it comes to eateries, Birmingham is muslim friendly. You can find halal eateries wherever you go even convenience stores. Many restaurants & cafes also offer student rates so do not be afraid to ask if they have one! Student discounts are there specifically to make your student life easier.
Most eateries in Birmingham that are halal will be of Lebanese or Pakistani food. For other cuisines that do not specify halal certificates, you can go for vegetarian / vegan options at your own risk.
There are halal Western eateries such as KFC at Star City, Nando's and Jimmy Spices at Broad Street, Dixy Chicken etc. Birmingham has this 'pizza and kebabs' culture where most halal fast-food chains put these on the menu!
If you are craving for halal Chinese menu, there is one at Selly Oak called Suzen's restaurant. (A good price for a big portion!) For Indian menu, another one at Selly Oak called Amaa Dosaa.
