BBI QBL The Wrap 2017 Issue 7 | Page 6

LAST WEEK'S WRAP UP was subject to change. Though there were lots of good expecta- tions in the lead up to the game after a great week at training. The first two quarters the Lady Capitals took the game to the Force, meeting each challenge against a strong opposition. Our forwards D. Lloyd and V. Aldred lead our scoring at the half with good support from E. Read, M. Woodford and H. Freeburn. The third quarter was poor as we only troubled the scoreboard for 14 points. Then fouls called on our Lady Capital forwards was a tell- ing factor early in the third which lead to a Lady Caps playing an all guard line-up for most of the third and fourth quarters against taller opposition. After a rev from our coach, the players responded and displayed lots of heart and team work ear- ly in the fourth quarter but in the end, you cannot beat height and Force dominated the boards with M. Walker pulling in 21 rebounds for the game. There were lots of positives for the rest of the season, with the team scoring 80 points with a depleted squad against a taller opposition, and our younger play- ers taking on more responsibility. Highlights out of the loss were the Lady Caps played the game out strongly and never stopped giving their best, with a player highlight being Emma Read playing every role in the second half from point guard through to centre. In the end, it was a hard loss and we must refocus as we have three weeks of double headers leading in to the second half of the sea- son. QBL MEN HUDOR MEN V IPSWICH FORCE by Geoff Tarrant Head Coach The Caps took on the Ipswich Force at home last Friday night hoping to regain their best form after a mini form slump over the previous two weeks. I was a little concerned going into the game as our only previous Friday night game this year was a preseason hitout against Ipswich in which we performed terribly going down by about 10 points, a scoreline that flattered our poor performance. There was also the concern that star Ipswich import and sharp shooter James Legan might have one of those nights where every- thing he throws up goes in. Fortunately we managed to do a good job on Legan early in the game but late in the first quarter Our Caps in action! How things went down in our last home games capturing the game.
