3. Which country have you visited through being booked and which is your favorite?
Looking into that this year (2013) as we speak. I’m ready to take it to the next level. My options are open and there’s no limit to the possibilities.
4. Do you use loops or prefer to program your beat from single hits?
Never used loops, single beats are the best way for me. I like original sounds and being creative in my own way. There are a lot of great songs out there with loop though, don’t get me wrong. It’s just not for me though.
5. What is the key ingredient in a track? break down? Style of production? Bassline?
I’m a big fan of the baseline, then the style of production. Breakdown’s in my opinion can make or break a song for me. Too short and you will find people chopping up the song to make the breakdown longer. Too long of a breakdown and you could kill the dance floor.
6. When building a track how do you normally work? Do you start with the drum and build from that?
I start with a simple drum then I do the baseline/ keys etc.
7. Do you mainly use analog or digital soft synth sources? Do you think analog makes a different?
I love the analog sound, much warmer than digital synths. I find myself starting with the digital and tweaking it to sound more like the analog sound..lol
8. Any advice on monitoring? Quiet? Loud? Do you prefer flat and boring Speakers, headphones or Big, Phat and chunky monitors?
Monitoring will vary from producer to producer.. In the mixing stage of it I always keep it quiet. To me thats the only way to be able to hear everything.. You gotta remember that your ears get tired too so blaring the music will kill your ears quickly.. Once the mix is where you want it by all means Blast Off...
9. What are the biggest barriers new producers face?
Being embraced and respected as new producers. Its rough out there and if you don’t have the respect of Dj’s to play your music you will never get heard. I always tell people to Pay It Forward and remember that they had to take that first step and someone gave them a chance, Never know who will be the next Legend.
