10. How important do you think it is to have your music mastered commercially? Can you do it yourself as effectively and what tools would you recommend?
It’s very important. Johnny Fiasco (who by the way is a (Dope Ass) mastering engineer told me something that stuck with me since the beginning. He said “Why spend all your time making the song if you are not gonna get it Professionally Mastered.” I totally agree with that. It will only take a couple of times before people won’t buy your music because of the poor quality of it. I’m learning more and more about mastering because I want to know all aspects of my business but until I become an engineer I will always leave it up to the Masters.
11. What do you believe is the secret to your success as a producer?
I’m not successful yet, I’m still growing as a producer. People have embraced me and my musical style and I am thankful for that. I have a unique sound and my goal is to bring a positive influence to music lovers.
12. Any advice for the aspiring producers out there?
“You gotta stay Busy to stay Relevant.” A quote of mine that keeps me motivated. Some of your closest friends and family will try to hold you back from being great, not because they don’t love you, it’s only because they don’t understand. Push thru that and always put your Best Foot Forward..You got this if you just Believe In Yourself.
13. Anything cooking in the studio right now or what can we expect in the near future from David Storm Ruffin?
I have several songs coming out back to back on my label Vinyl Banditz starting in January.
