1. Please tell me a little about yourself? Who is David Storm Ruffin?
I am an open minded Music Producer and Dj.Label Owner of Vinyl Banditz Records, and Vinyl Banditz Entertainment. I am interested in challenging, innovative, creative works and projects.
2. When did your career start?
I got my first taste of Dj’ing in the early 80’s. My uncle Jesse Jones (Master C&J feat Liz Torres) Pioneers of House Music took me under his wings and showed me how to Dj. I didn’t start my Production career until 2005.
2.1 How did you get your start in the music business?
I used to frequent one of our Legendary House Music clubs called Red Dog. Where we had some incredible dj’s/ producers killing it every mon, friday and sat nights. Johnny Fiasco, Psycho Bitch, Lil John, Rob “Hot Hands” Thurmond. Mark Grant, Lego. and Mike Pierce. I used to always have 2 crates of records in the trunk of my car (in which they all used to laugh at me) until Johnny Fiasco let me close out one night.. Blew them away and it was the start of something great. I wound up picking up a night with Rob on the infamous 3rd floor at Red Dog.. It’s funny because tons of people still talk about the parties there..
2.2 How had the internet changed your relationship with and to music and the industry?
I think the internet is a great way to market yourself and career but it has its disadvantages as well. Piracy is a real killer. It’s a shame that we (Artist) have to worry about one person buying the songs we make and with a click of a button can send it to millions of friends for free.
