AV News 184 - May 2011 Lilian Webb AIPF A First No, it is not the first time, nor the last time, for me to attend the Northern Ireland Photographic Association's Audio Visual Festival. I've been attending for more years than I care to remember! Eighteen of us from south of the border attended the festival, some after a gap of many years. We were delighted to renew our acquaintance with Colin Balls & Rhona, who had judged the Irish Photographic Federation's AV Festival almost 4 years ago - in appropriately enough - Collins' Barracks! Having attended the RPS (Ireland) AV Group a fortnight earlier, it was interesting to see how the comments that were made then affected the entries. Some were not shown - deciding to hold off to next year - and another left out the effect he was going to put in! However, it was great to see entries from a couple of members who have attended the workshops for a long time and had not put in an entry before and some other newcomers too. As usual, at these events, we were taken in Ballyearl Theatre to various parts of Northern Ireland - Rathlin, Donaghadee to other parts of the world from Rybnic to Silverstone and Clonmel to New Zealand! As usual, the Northern Ireland forte of story telling was in abundance. As the entries were down a bit, the IPF members were delighted to show six of their sequences on a larger screen! Colin gave very good words of advice to each of the sequences and declared the following the winners: Award Sequence Author Novice 1st Ocean to Ocean Geoffrey Cross.
